Agriculture · A priority Adopt sector
AI for Australian
farm SMEs
Agriculture is a priority AI Adopt sector for SMEC AI. We do not have a published farm case study yet. We do have two 2026 field guides written for Australian broadacre and family farms: what pays now, what is still hype, and who ends up with the data.
Profits can fall while the office work stays unpaid
SMEC AI's farm guides start from the ABARES 2026-27 outlook: average broadacre farm business profits forecast to fall 70 per cent after a record year, with fertiliser and fuel staying high. You cannot set the price of urea. You can still cut hours on quoting, inductions, safety documents, and grant applications.
What the farm guides say to try first
Office AI under $30 a month
The first paid step in the SMEC AI farm guides is usually a general assistant on admin. ChatGPT's free tier and Copilot at the published AU$26.91 a user sit in that band. No new hardware.
Camera spraying when the operation is the right size
The same guides treat weed-spotting spray systems as a real input saving, including Queensland-built SwarmFarm robots, and they flag vendor numbers from overseas orchards as vendor numbers, not audited Australian results.
Do not skip the agronomist
SMEC AI repeats CSIRO's warning: generative AI makes things up, and a hallucinated chemical rate is expensive. Use AI to prepare for the agronomist conversation, not to replace it.
Published SMEC AI guidance
AI for farm paperwork works today and costs almost nothing. Camera spraying and livestock monitoring work and pay for themselves on the right operation. The fully autonomous farm is real technology that mostly isn't ready for your place yet.
AI on Australian farms in 2026. A plain-English SMEC AI guide to tools, prices, and data-ownership questions for Australian farms.
You can't make it rain and you can't set the price of urea. What a farm business can still control is hours and inputs.
Farm profits and AI workload. Walks through the ABARES profit forecast and the office work AI can take off a farm plate this season.

Farms are in the Adopt brief
Eligible farm businesses can call 1800 517 403 or book a 45-minute consult. SMEC AI will not invent a farm case study that is not on this site. Ask about connectivity and data contracts before you buy agtech.
Questions
Do you have a farm client case study?
Not on this site yet. Agriculture is still a priority Adopt sector. The farm pages here cite SMEC AI's own 2026 guides, not an invented paddock result.
Is farm AI free through SMEC AI?
Adopt support is free for eligible Australian SMEs, farms included. Tool subscriptions and hardware are separate and paid to vendors.
Who owns farm data?
Whoever the vendor contract says. SMEC AI's farm guides tell you to ask where data lives, whether you can export it, and what the vendor can do with it before you sign.
